Criteria D - Evaluating

Criteria D - Evaluating

My game went to plan, I wanted the primary school students to enjoy the game, and they did. The game doesn't have any problems with lag, or any server issues. The way I tested out if the solution was accurate to what I wanted, was to play the game, and if anything went wrong, I would find out. I made my testing basis, on the thought of what I wanted my game's mechanics and features as.

Comparision with Design Specification

Peer Evaluation
I have played the game and I have enjoyed it, It was really fun playing it and the controls were really easy. The instructions were also realy good. I have also been liking the procedure he has created. By looking at his procedure I have clearly understood and I can create the same football game also. I think he could have improved the ball a bit more. 7 out of 8. Daniil.

Your game is very detailed and engaging. I could see that your coding is complex, so you most probably put a lot of effort into it. I like that it has multiplayer, which makes it competitive. You could improve by making the game more professional and you can change your sprite. Rating:7 out of 10. Grade 6 out of 8.

Survey

Summarising answers of the survey
8 people said the game was appealing, 2 people said it wasn't . 10 people said there are no bugs in the game. 9 people said the game is for Grade 2, and 1 said it isn't. 10 people said the game was easy to play and learn. 6 people said the ball physics were good, 4 said they aren't good. The average ratng from the people were 8.5 out of 10.

How could I improve the game?
I could improve the game by improving the main menu, adding vibrant colours and making it look slick, to attract more people to play the game. I could improve the ball physics, where every time a player touches the ball, the ball moves ahead, it different ways and angles, and speeds, I could add more players to add more opportunity for play, goals and defending. I could add a goalkeeper, so it is harder for the player to score goals. I could make the sprites as actual players, and put a realistic running speed, and two modes for a player, a sprinting and a walking/jogging pace.

Impact on targeted audience
They children can now enjoy school, at some time of the day, this can help them learning keys of an computer. They can make new friends, and enjoy playing the game with their friends. They can improve their reaction times by playing this game.

Criteria C- Creating the solution

Criteria C- Creating the solution

Gannt Chart - Planning my creation

This shows my plan, it shows what I will do on the creation, and when I will do it.

The steps for my creation

Main Menu

1. This is the first step for creating the main menu, I deleted the sprite and went to the backdrop, according to the design specification, I am going to make a stadium background, with 2 buttons and a title. The first step is a making a line dividing the red and the green part, then I fill the top part with red and then make two lines in the middle. After that, I fill the two divided sides with green, then I put a black circle in the middle of the white line. Using the line tool, I make the two goals.

2. I have added the title, I added the text for the title, then I made two sprites, I imported two red buttons pictures, and added text on them, I put 'Start'and 'Controls' as the text for the two buttons,
3. I made a backdrop for the controls, so they know how to play, later on I will add the text. I also made a sprite, using a red button and adding the text 'Main Menu' for it.

4. This is the backdrop for the game, it is not completed, I made it so the main menu can function properly and I could add code and see how it looks like. I copied the same way to making the stadium as step 1.

5. This is the code I used for the backdrops, it will help in changing the backdrops when the buttons are pressed.
6. This is the code I used for the 'Start button. Now I can use the start button to play the game, and depending on the backdrop, it will appear or not.
7. This is the code used for the 'Controls' button, with this if I click on the button it will show me the controls of the game.
8. This is the code used for the 'Main Menu' button, with is, when I enter the controls menu, I can go back to then main menu with the click of a button.

Now I have successfully completed the main menu for my game.
Game

1. This is my first sprite in the football game, which is one of the players. I used the circle tool and filled the circle with blue.
2. This is the code I used for my first sprite, this code helps my correct go to the correct position at the start of the game, and when a player scores a goal. It helps moving the sprite, it also hides in some backdrops, depending on the backdrop.
3. This is my second sprite in the football game, which is one of the players. I used the circle tool and filled the circle with red.
4. This is the code I used for my second sprite, this code helps my correct go to the correct position at the start of the game, and when a player scores a goal. It helps moving the sprite, it also hides in some backdrops, depending on the backdrop.
5. This is the football in the game, I made this by using the drawing tool.
6. This is the code used for the football in the code, this code makes sure the football is in the right place, it is hidden in some backdrops, depending on the backdrop. It also knows when the ball reaches the goal, so the scoreboard is updated and it goes back to the middle. It also has the code so it can change from one player to the other depending on how the ball is taken.

7. These are the goals in the game, it is flipped for the goal on the other side, if the ball touches this, it is a goal. There is no code for this sprite.

8. This is the backdrop  for when I start the game, I took it from the internet and imported it in. I added those faces on the sides, because that is the crowd.

Criteria B: Developing Ideas

Criteria B: Developing Ideas

Design Brief

For Criteria B, I will make designs for my football video game animation on Scratch. I have already have done a Criteria, which is below this post. It has more information on my animation that I will make, an interview to make sure we can get the best for the game, to fix all the problems and satisfy the gamer's and the grade 2 children who get bored, so this will be a fun game for them to enjoy. I am making this game because the football gamer's aren't satisfied with the games which are currently released. I am also making the game because the children in grade 2 primary.

Design Specification

Designs

Main Menu

Design 1

It has a title called Football Multiplayer, it has 2 footballs next to it and two buttons. One called 'Play'and one called 'Controls'.
It is a very bland, simplistic design, it has no colors and no creativity. I don't think it will attract a lot of people to play the game.

Design 2

This is my second design for the main menu, it has the same title. with football's next to it. Same buttons as 'Play'and Controls'. This time it has colors with Green and Purple, making it look vibrant, but it isn't very creative and fitting my needs exactly.

Design 3

This is my third design for the main menu. It has a stadium background because the match is played at a football ground. It has the same buttons and the same title, but there is no footballs next to them. I think this is good because the colors, aren't very outrageous and they are simple and nice to look at, they will attract people to play the game.

Final choice for the main menu design

I have chosen design 3 because it fits my design specifications, it looks neat and should attractive to the grade 2 children. It should engage the children to play this game. It also has a stadium background. The final product will look much better and make it even more appealing to the younger audience. It has red buttons, it has vibrant colours and a very vibrant background.

Stadium

Design 1
This is the first design, it is a stadium, with two goals and the borders are the fans who be at the stadium, in the middle is a line where the ball is placed. It has no color making it look bland and not attractive.

Design 2
This is the second design, it has added the players on each team and a bit more detail, it still has no color, so it doesn't look very attractive to the younger children and they might find it boring.

Design 3

This is the third design, it has color for the grass and the crowd looks better, they will have blue chairs, and they will have different colors depending on the teams playing, the pitch looks centered, the pitch is symmetrical. It looks attractive to the children.

Final choice for the stadium design

I have chosen design 3, because it will appeal to the children, it looks vibrant and colorful. It has detail and looks like a proper pitch from a bird's eye view. It looks way better than the first two designs. It fits the design specification that I have written. The final version of the design will be improved and look very appealing.

Peer Evaluation by Marwan
i am giving Sahil a level 6. while the drawings arent perfect he outlines the reasons for choosing them and explains what is in them with great detail. he created the right amount of designs with good detail.

Criteria A: Inquiring and Analysing

Criteria A: Inquiring and Analysing

Introduction

My design situation is, I am creating a football game animation, for the Grade 2 children, as they get bored in school and I will make it  enjoyable, entertaining and realistic. I will use primary and secondary sources research to find and use the best software and tools and anything necessary for the video game animation. I will analyze and research about identical football video games and check the internet for game ideas, try to interview a person who worked on making a video game, if not, a person who plays football games to create a great video game. Obviously, I will make it a basic game, not to advanced, so it is very easy for the children in Grade 2, who enjoy playing football in real life and in video games. I will have different stadiums, different football teams and players for a variety.

Scenario

The problem is that, people who play football video games aren't satisfied with the games, currently the games receive a lot of hate, the community for football games, is getting worse due to the lack of variety in the football games. Grade 2 children are bored in school, so we are making this game. Some games aren't suited for people who don't play games a lot. My game will be useful because it will be easy to learn and people will enjoy it. People who play football video games or video games in general will play the game, even football players would play the game. The solution is making a game which is easy to learn and free to play. The clients are Grade 2 children in school, so they can enjoy. Football is related to P.E, and the game is revolved around football, so they can learn about the rules of football while playing, and it is a P.E teacher.

Primary Research

Interview

Interview with Football Gamer

Me: Hello, how are you?

Gamer: I'm good.

Me: I heard there is a big backlash in the football gaming community, right?

Gamer: Yes there is, the football games which have been released are really complex, they have lots of servers issues. The games are filed with bugs and they aren't enjoyable and entertaining, they are very frustrating.

Me: Why has this problem occurred?

Gamer: Honestly, I don't 100% know, but I think they don't care about their fan's opinions and feedback.

Me: I am designing a new football video game, what are you looking for in a football game? I have taken note of the complaints you have mentioned in the other games.

Gamer: We want the game to be free, it should work properly without lots of issues, it should be enjoyable and entertaining.

Me: The game is also for children in Grade 2, and is created relating to the subject P.E, how can I make it suitable for Grade 2 children?

Gamer: Make the game very easy to understand, as they are very small and it will help them learn how to play football, which links to P.E.

Me: Okay, thanks for your feedback, I will try my best to fulfill your needs, and the community's needs.

Secondary Research

Servers are bad on other football games, because there are lots of hackers who exploit the game which makes the servers slow and lag a lot. To fix this problem, games must have better security for their games, to protect it from hackers. There also aren't dedicated servers in parts of the world which makes it slow in some parts of the world.
Delay in games are a big problem as well, delay happens because there are too many animations going on at the same time.
I have watched YouTube videos and looked at tutorials on how to make a football game and also a tutorial on how to make a main menu on Scratch.
I will need Photoshop for the stadium background, I want to make the football pitch as realistic as possible for this game. Photoshop has a wide variety of tools to make a realistic football pitch, and is the best photo editing software in my opinion.
I will use Scratch to make the football game animation, I will use the code given to make it. Scratch is needed because it is a very good app to create games, it also isn't very difficult and has a wide variety of options, to make a very good game.

Instructions- Green flag to start the game, left arrow to turn 15 degrees left and right arrow to turn 15 degrees right. If you touch the green colour, you lose and your car crashes, once you crash to replay game, turn the car facing straight. Try to get to the finish line without crashing!

Introduction

Computational Concepts are sequences, loops, parallelism, events, conditionals, operators, variables, and lists.

Reflection

I enjoyed making the tennis ball continuously bounce forever, and I also enjoyed making the sprite have a proper walking animation, kicking the football in the goal was also interesting because I love playing football and I can introduce my self by animating my hobbies.

I want to explore more on Sensing, Operators and learning how to make more video games, because I love playing video games.

To improve my animation, I could have added more detail and information about myself and animating, what I like to do and my interests.I could have made my own sprite and try to make it look like me.
